This Privacy Policy explains how SwapandConnect collects, uses, and protects your personal information. Please read it carefully before using our platform or submitting any personal data.
SwapandConnect ("we", "us", "our") operates the SwapandConnect platform, a social creator economy and digital asset platform. We are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws including the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable.
To create an account and use the platform, we collect: your email address and/or phone number, and your confirmation that you meet our minimum age requirement. For general platform use, we also collect: profile information, content you upload, and usage data. We do not collect government identity documents, selfies, or proof of income for standard platform use. Identity verification is optional and only required for certain features — it is described in section 5. SwapandConnect is intended for users aged 18 and over. The platform is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at team@swapandconnect.org and we will delete it.
We collect your email address or phone number to create and secure your account and to communicate with you about the service. We ask you to confirm your age so that we can apply our minimum age requirement. Platform data is collected to provide, maintain, and improve our services.
Account verification is limited to confirming your age and validating your email address or phone number. We do not collect or store government identity documents, selfies, or financial documents for standard platform use. Verification details are stored securely and accessed only by authorised personnel. Identity verification (government ID and a selfie) is optional and applies only to certain features — it is described in section 5. Where additional verification is required by law or regulation, we will give you advance notice.
Some features may require you to verify your identity. If you choose to verify, we collect a government-issued identity document (such as a passport or national ID) and a live selfie, and we may use your verified phone number. This information is collected strictly for verification purposes only — to confirm you are a real person and the rightful holder of your account. Your identity documents are stored securely in SwapandConnect's own systems, encrypted at rest, with access restricted to authorised personnel for review only. They are never shown on your profile, shared, or sold, and are not used for any purpose other than verification. We retain your identity documents only until you delete your account. When your account is permanently deleted, your identity documents are permanently deleted along with it. Your phone number is used for verification and for account security, such as confirming sign-ins and protecting your account.
We retain your account and verification data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account at any time from your Profile settings or by contacting us. When you request deletion, your account is scheduled for permanent deletion after a 30-day grace period, during which you can restore it simply by logging back in. Once the 30 days have passed, your account and personal data are permanently deleted, except for specific records (such as financial transaction records) that we are required to retain by applicable law.
You have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate data, request deletion (subject to legal retention requirements), withdraw consent at any time (this may affect your ability to use financial features), and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel only. We conduct regular security reviews. Identity documents are held in SwapandConnect's own secure systems, encrypted at rest with per-document keys, and are accessible only to authorised reviewers. Data Breach Notification: In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, SwapandConnect will notify the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, where required by applicable law. If the breach is likely to result in a high risk to your rights and freedoms, we will also notify you directly without undue delay, describing the nature of the breach and the steps we are taking to address it.
Your data may be processed in countries outside your own. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission.
We use essential cookies to maintain your session. With your consent in the cookie banner we also use Google Analytics to measure website traffic (pages visited, approximate region, device type — IP addresses anonymised); it is off until you accept, and you can withdraw consent at any time (see the Cookie Policy). We do not use advertising cookies.
When you connect a blockchain wallet or conduct transactions on BNB Smart Chain through SwapandConnect, please be aware that blockchain transactions are public, permanent, and irreversible by nature. Your wallet address and all associated on-chain transactions are permanently visible on the public blockchain and cannot be deleted or modified by SwapandConnect or any other party. This is an inherent property of blockchain technology and is outside our control. We recommend you carefully consider the public nature of blockchain activity before connecting a wallet or conducting any on-chain transaction. SwapandConnect does not publish or share your wallet address in connection with your profile or identity without your consent, but we cannot control the public visibility of on-chain data once a transaction is submitted to the blockchain.
Location tagging is entirely optional and opt-in on a per-post basis. You may add a place tag to content you publish by searching for a place — such as a city, area, or venue. Providing a place tag is always your choice: content published without a tag carries no location data at all. We do not track your location, and adding a place tag never accesses your device's GPS or precise location. Place tags come only from the place you choose to search — not from your device. When you add a place tag, publicly visible content shows the place name and the place-level coordinates of that searched place (the general centre of the place) only. It never reveals your device's GPS position, your home, or your precise whereabouts. You can remove a place tag from your content at any time, and doing so removes it from public view. We use place tags to display location on content and to power place-based discovery features.
SwapandConnect offers an optional live location feature (the friends map). It is off by default and shares nothing until you explicitly turn it on. This is separate from the place tags described in section 12. Your choice of who can see you. When you enable live location, you choose the audience: no one (ghost), only people you mutually follow (friends), a specific list of people you select, or anyone (discoverable). You can change this or turn sharing off entirely at any time, which immediately stops sharing. What we collect and how. When sharing is on and the app is open, we collect your device location to place you on the map. We capture location only while the app is in use — we do not track your location in the background. Your location is visible only to the audience you chose; it is never publicly listed, sold, or used for advertising, and access is enforced on our servers. Retention. Your latest shared location is kept only while sharing is on and is overwritten as it updates. When you turn sharing off or delete your account, your location data is deleted. You may withdraw consent at any time by disabling the feature.
